A Pomegranate tastes incredible and it is a one of a kind fruit. Apples, oranges, bananas, and grapes come in all shapes and sizes. But a pomegranate is unique. With 613 seeds, a number of great significance in Judaism and a special product of Israel. It is no wonder, Avrohom Banda, selected this fruit as the name of his store in Brooklyn.

Come see Levana Kirschenbaum tomorrow as Pomegranate continues its “MEET THE CELEBRITY CHEFS” series, which features in-store demonstrations by upscale kosher chefs, cookbook authors and caterers.

Ms. Kirschenbaum will demonstrate four different recipes including Chilled Avocado Cucumber Soup and Quick Pistachio Coconut Halva on Wednesday, June 17 at Pomegranate (1507 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, NY) beginning at 1:00 pm. She will be assisted by Pomegranate’s team of chefs, headed by Mike Schulte. The event is open to the public free of charge.

LEVANA KIRSCHENBAUM, co-owner of Levana Restaurant, teaches weekly kosher cooking at Lincoln Square Synagogue on the Upper west Side of NYC, and has published three kosher cookbooks including, “Levana Cooks Dairy Free,” and “Levana’s Table: Kosher Cooking for Everyone.”  She also has launched a new line of spelt, all-natural desserts available at select retail grocers.  You can find out more about her classes, cookbooks and products at www.levanacooks.com. Abraham Banda, owner of Pomegranate, said the launch of the series “was consistent with the store’s presentation of kosher as an upscale, natural, fresh experience.”  He added, “What distinguishes our kosher supermarket from any other is the presentation of foods that use all natural ingredients, are prepared daily, and make creative use of foods to satisfy today’s sophisticated palate.”

The 20,000 square foot store first opened its doors 10 months ago touting the widest assortment of kosher gourmet and homemade kosher foods.  The wide beautiful aisles, unique fare, top quality and hard-to-find kosher items attract customers from all over the tri-state area and beyond.
