GNOME Is Where The Heart Is

There are some days when you need to take the entire family, no matter how tired everybody is, and get in the car and drive. This past Tuesday evening we got out of our neighborhood and went to the screening of Disney’s newest film, GNOMEO & JULIET, which is opening in theaters everywhere on February 11th in 3D! GNOMEO & JULIET (under the Touchstone Pictures label) is a comical, off-the-wall makeover on Shakespeare’s classic tale of Romeo & Juliet set to the music of Elton John! Here is a brief synopsis:

Two garden gnomes, Gnomeo (voice of James McAvoy) and Juliet (voice of Emily Blunt), try to avoid tragedy and find a happy ending to their star-crossed love affair when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors.

This was my first 3D experience outside of Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The night we drove almost an hour to the Deer Park Regal Cinemas in Deer Park, NY, it was extremely cold. The minute we arrived in the theater, our hearts were warmed-up by the gnomes that jumped all over (and ouf of) the movie screen. It was a true Disney World moment.

The sound affects, the characters, and the color were all magical. When I saw the two gnomes look in to each others extra almond shaped eyes, I felt their connection to each other. Is this what happens when you don’t see movies in a long time? The chemistry between the gnomes was a real, genuine attraction. And they said it wouldn’t last. Yes, Gnomeo and Juliet were from different sides of the garden with a not so pretty as deep as the roots of the trees in the garden they occupied. This movie takes us along for the ride of their courting and bumps they encountered along the way. Will Gnomeo & Juliet stay together and have little gnomes in the future? You will just have to see the movie and find out for yourself.

This movie will make you laugh and feel the love like no other gnomes have before. You will also want to get up and dance to the music of Sir Elton John. In celebration of this release, primetimeparenting.com is hosting a special a GNOMEO & JULIET giveaway. I have two winning prize-packs that include: 1 youth-sized t-shirt, beanie and mini-notebook. 1. @windycitymomma

    My favorite Elton John song is “Your Song” for several reasons but first because I sent a copy of the lyrics to my father when his 2nd wife divorced him. Sounds strange but I wanted him to know how much I cared.

    My favorite Disney movie has always been Beauty and the Beast. Hands down!

  2. I think I have to agree with Renee – “Your Song”. I am guilty of singing that one in the car many times over. : )

    @racheldmoore

    I am really looking forward to reading through more of your blog.
